What a naff area I live in for windsurfing !!! rubbish wind stats, no flat
water or waves - only broken 30 kts locally once and never sailed more than
about 60 k in a day in the 25 years I have lived there !!!!! :( :( :( - the
shortboarding is crap - the only good thing is the longboard cruising,
just as well I love my Cat :) perhaps I should try kiting again - looks
loads of fun :) After last Sunday cold bumpy sail at the Fludgers in a cold
bumpy open I couldn't face that again so took the gear to Levington even
though it was a midday low water. The nice people at Levington Marina have
blocked my access to the marina entrance :( so I had to walk a bit further
to launch :( It seemed quite breezy when I arrived so rigged the 8.5 ,
discovered I had a broken battern but used it anyway !!! The first few runs
across the bay were the fastest but much slower than the last I sailed here
:( then the wind dropped even further - but thats nothing new this way ! I
sailed up to the docks and saw a bird I have never seen before and when I
got home checked a local birding site and it was a Great Northern Diver :)
and then in front of Levington Creek were many hundreds of Dunlins and
lapwings flying all around me :) and the on the way home the waxwings were
back on the cut through road between Levington and Trimley - I rushed home
to get Mag and went back and she was pleased to she her first waxwings -
about 20 and we got really close too. So the windsurfing might have been
preety average but the birds were fantastic :)
